European system for training of sport climbing coaches and routesetters

ABOUT CORS

The project focuses on the area of a dynamically developing sport sector – sport climbing. Due to the growing popularity of this sport, the issue of systematic education of coaches and routesetters, which are two key professions determining the quality of the whole sport climbing, is very topical. The need for systematic education applies to all levels and is particularly sensitive for smaller federations that are faced with few resources.

THE PARTNERSHIP

The CORS consortium is led by the Czech Mountaineering Federation, in cooperation with five partnes coming from different EU Countries – four national climbing federations and one sports university. The consortium works very closely and with the full support of the IFSC (International Federation of Sport Climbing).

OUTPUTS

In the framework of CORS Project, many outputs have been produced during the three years of cooperative work.
Within the CORS project, the following two levels were developed:
  • Climbing For All Coaching course
  • Elite Competition Performance Coaching course

Elite levels are based on a multi-day combined form of education and both have been piloted within the project.
