Education system and technical support
This phase thus included the complex setup of processes and technical parameters for the operation of the Climbing Academy within which the pilot testing of the developed programmes took place. This phase thus included:
- Setting up the governance structure.
- Setting up processes for launching and implementing training events, including pilot programmes.
- Preparation of template documents needed throughout the process.
- Selection, setup and implementation of the LMS including pilot testing.
Sport climbing coaches
Coaches level 4 (focused on elite coaches)
The purpose of this course is to strengthen coaches‘ expertise and give them the opportunity to build their career path. Graduates of this program will then be important experts for national federations in their building of a national base of sport climbers and coaches.
Aims:
- To offer sport-specific coaching education at highest performance level.
- To offer a state-of-the-art research-based and high-performance programme for active elite coaches.
- To create a platform and a network of coaches and researchers to exchange ideas and best practices.
Climbing for all
The purpose of this course is to educate coaches to develop climbers up to a nationally competitive level. It is designed to give a broad theoretical base and practical skills of coaching, suitable for coaches with limited (~1 year) coaching experience. Climbing for All The content and delivery approach is suitable for coaches from federations without a developed coach education system.
Aims:
- To create an opportunity for coaches to develop networks for exchanging ideas and experiences.
- To offer a broad, base level of sport-specific coaching education.
- To foster relationships between coaches and athletes through practical sessions.
Routesetters
Coaches level 4 (focused on elite coaches)
The purpose of this clinic is to develop routesetters expertise in competition routesetting and give them the opportunity to build their career path. Graduates of this program will then be valuable assets for national federations in raising the quality and level of competitions and athletes.
Aims:
- To offer routesetting education appropriate for national level competition setting.
- To offer an opportunity to practice setting alongside skilled athletes to maximise feedback.
- To facilitate development of a network of routesetters within a NF to exchange creative ideas and best practices.
